The radar-jamming variant of the F-111. It carries the ALQ-99E electronic warfare suite (the same as used by the EA-6B Prowler, except modified and largely automated for two-man operation). Using an F-111A airframe with new engines and a weapons bay packed with 'black boxes', it accompanies squadrons of strike aircraft, frustrating enemy radars with a wide variety of powerful spoofing equipment. USAF EF-111A's underwent an avionics upgrade program in 1989, further increasing their effectiveness. [See also F-111F]
